This May, including DIPG Awareness Day 2025

Grab your cape, rally your squad, and get ready to save the day—because throughout this May, we’re calling on everyday heroes like you to join the fight against DIPG.
In the lead-up to DIPG Awareness Day on 17th May, we’re launching a new fundraising campaign page — Superheroes Against DIPG. Whether you run, jump, bake, bounce, or simply donate £1, you’ll be helping to fund vital research and give hope to families facing this devastating disease.
This year, we’re aiming to raise as much as possible based on small heroic efforts from you and your friends, that can snowball into exponential growth and make a HUGE impact!
It only takes £1 to be a hero 💛
We know times are tough, but that’s exactly why this campaign is built on something small but mighty. We’re asking everyone to give just £1.
That’s it. No pressure, no big donation asks. Just one pound. Because when enough of us come together, £1 can be powerful. It can fund research. It can drive progress. It can give hope to families who feel like they've run out of options.
You can also choose to donate £1 every month to keep making a difference long after DIPG Awareness Day.
What can you buy for £1 these days?
❌ Not a coffee
❌ Not a meal deal
❌ Not even a chocolate bar (most of them are £1.25 now!)
❌ A scratch card… maybe
But £1 can help fund research into one of the most aggressive childhood brain cancers. It can be a small act of hope. And when thousands of us give just £1?
That's a movement! that can become life-changing.
What is DIPG Awareness Day? 🎗️
DIPG Awareness Day takes place every year on 17th May. It’s a day to shine a light on one of the most aggressive and underfunded childhood cancers—Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).
DIPG is a brain tumour that primarily affects children. It’s inoperable, difficult to treat, and tragically, survival rates have remained almost unchanged in over 50 years. There are no effective long-term treatments, but together, we can change that.
DIPG Awareness Day is about:
Honouring the children who have died from DIPG
Standing with families currently facing a diagnosis
And pushing for more research, more clinical trials, and more answers, and more hope.
By taking part in our campaign, you’ll be turning awareness into action.

Here’s how you can get involved:
Donate £1, or £1 a month: through our dedicated campaign on Just Giving. It may seem small, but every pound is a powerful step toward progress.
Super Squad Challenge: Get 10 friends to donate £1 and recruit their own squad.
Take on a Superhero Challenge: From marathons to Tough Mudders, inflatable runs to bungee jumps, sign up on our website and wear your cape with pride!
Spread the word: Share our campaign with your friends, family, and co-workers. Use #DIPG #ResearchMatters #DIPGHeroes and tag us to help raise awareness.
Fundraise with flair: Host a dress-up day at school, a cake sale at work, or set up a Facebook fundraiser.
Together, we can show children with DIPG and their families that they’re not fighting alone.
Are you ready to be a hero?
Abbie’s Army is fighting for a future where DIPG no longer steals young lives. Your donation fuels the research needed to find a cure and helps us bring hope to families facing this tragic disease. Join our fight—donate now and make a difference.
